About Shanae and Freesia Mind

Astrology as a Language for Life

I’ve always been fascinated by space—planets, stars, the vast unknown. Growing up, my role model was Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, and I proudly asked for a telescope for Christmas in 5th grade.

Like many, I was once a skeptic. At 18, I googled, “Why do people believe in astrology?” expecting to confirm it was nonsense. Instead, I found something deeper—a system of time, cycles, and personal insight that defied the shallow sun-sign stereotypes. Reading my natal chart felt like opening a cosmic blueprint. I wasn’t just seen—I was understood.

Astrology became the thread weaving through my journey—from science geek to skeptic to seeker. Over time, I discovered it isn’t a belief system—it’s a clock, a map, and a mirror. It shows us the cycles we’re moving through, the patterns we keep repeating, and how to navigate life’s changing seasons with awareness.

My Approach

For me, astrology has never been about fate or fortune-telling. It’s about timing, awareness, and working with the cycles that are already unfolding. I blend traditional techniques with modern insights to create a practical, grounded way of using astrology — not as a passive prediction tool, but as a way to understand your own rhythms and patterns. My philosophy is conversational and curious rather than rigid or prescriptive. Astrology isn’t about being told who you are or what you're going to do — it’s about finding language for what you already know deep down, and using that insight to make choices that actually fit.

Education & Background

I’ve been interested in astrology since 2011, and began taking it seriously as a practice in 2021. My foundation is rooted in structured coursework (including studies through Kepler College) and years of hands-on chart work with people from all walks of life. Along the way, I’ve been influenced by Adlerian philosophy — the idea that we are not only shaped by the past, but also by the outcomes we unconsciously move toward. Astrology, in this sense, is both a mirror and a map: it helps us see the patterns we’re repeating, but also the possibilities we’re creating.

I’m especially inspired by the work of astrologer Andrea Gehrz, who approaches the chart through a teleological lens. That perspective continues to shape how I use astrology — not just to describe what is happening, but to ask why it’s unfolding and how to engage with it meaningfully.

What is Freesia Mind: An Alchemical House?

Freesia Mind: I chose the name "Freesia Mind" because freesia flowers symbolize trust, clarity, and new beginnings—all of which are core to my work, and Mind because of the clear play on words "free your mind".

Alchemical: Because alchemy is the art of turning base materials into something precious. In the same way, astrology gives us tools to work with life’s raw, messy material—our challenges, our patterns, our timing—and refine it into growth, clarity, and gold which are the most precious results of our very human, inner transformations.

And House because of it's representation of a container, and it's quality of being both safe, secure, private and intimate, as well as unique and a place that represents something higher quality -- think of a Fashion House (as opposed to predatory-fast-fashion corporation), or a Coffee House (as opposed to a chain-coffee-shop), but for your evolution of self.

Astrology, to me, is alchemy—it helps us see our patterns, understand the time we’re living in, and consciously shape the life we want.

A Vision for Something Bigger

Freesia Mind has always been more than a business to me — it’s a creative space for transformation. What started as one-on-one consultations has grown into a library of insights, tools, and resources you can explore at your own pace.

The vision is still alive and evolving. One day, I’d love to see Freesia Mind expand into workshops, retreats, or immersive spaces where astrology isn’t just something you read about — it’s something you experience. For now, that vision is taking root through the blog, the Solar Seasons Guide, and The Alchemical Dispatch.

If you’re here, you’re already part of that unfolding journey. ✨ Thank you for being curious, open, and willing to see astrology as more than just prediction — but as a language for life.
